Fund a check.
SaneCheck spends money on one thing: verifying the record at a scale no individual can afford alone. The compute got cheap. The checking never got funded. You are the funding.
What a dollar buys
Auditing the citations of 100,000 scientific papers costs roughly $1,000–$2,000 in open-model inference.1 Read that again. The tokens are nearly free. What costs money is everything around them: getting the corpus, engineering the run, and paying experts to adjudicate the flags the machine raises. That is what your dollar buys — judgment, at scale, in public.
Our proof of concept is already done. Campaign Zero sifted an entire library — 328 works, translated and verified against their originals — for about $449 in machine cost. The method works. It needs a treasury.
Braided, not pooled.
The money never goes into one pot. That is deliberate. A pooled pot can be captured, pressured, or drained. A braid can’t.
Strands stay separate
A foundation grant keeps its own terms. Lab compute credits stay on their own platform, under their own rules. Dollars stay dollars. Each strand is spent by its holder — nothing is commingled, nothing is transferred.
One aim
Every strand points at the same published campaign slate. The house doesn’t hold the money; it holds the aim — and the funding router that assigns each job to the strand allowed to pay for it.
One ledger
Every strand, every spend, every result — public. Rules with teeth: no single funder above ~25% of a contested campaign. No governance token, ever. A campaign that misses its published finish twice loses eligibility.
Founding Checkers
Supporters of SaneCheck are called Checkers — because checking is the whole religion here. Money counts. So does contributing a re-run, a corpus, or an hour of expert adjudication.
The honest status: SaneCheck’s fiscal sponsorship is being established right now. Until it lands, this page takes pledges, not payments — your name and your intent. Nothing is charged. Nothing is binding. No tax-deductibility is promised today, because today it would not be true. When the sponsorship is live, founding pledgers hear first.
Coming with the endowment
Donate compute itself
The original idea was “donate tokens.” The labs’ credits can’t be donated — their terms forbid transferring them, full stop. But compute can be endowed: DIEM, a transferable token on Venice’s inference platform, yields $1 of API credit per day per token, in perpetuity. A DIEM held by the house is a small permanent checking engine, pointed at whichever campaign is running. The endowment sleeve opens after the fiscal wrapper lands — capped as a minority of the treasury, every token on the public ledger. Not yet open.
Small print, said plainly: SaneCheck is not yet a registered charity and cannot accept tax-deductible donations today. Anyone who tells you otherwise — including a slicker version of this page — is ahead of the paperwork. We publish the paperwork when it exists.
Sources — every number on this page
- SaneCheck campaign economics, October 2026: citation-accuracy audit of 100,000 papers at ~45K input / 5K output tokens per paper on open-weight models at $0.15/$0.60 per 1M tokens (DeepSeek Flash class, Oct 2026 list prices) ≈ $1–2K inference; frontier models ≈ $14–28K. Expert adjudication of flags is the dominant cost (~10× the tokens at a 10% flag rate).
- Campaign Zero case file: Via Patrum — 328 works, 7,504 passages certified against the Greek and Latin originals; full-catalog synthesis ≈$449 at Cloudflare list prices.
- DIEM mechanics: Venice platform documentation (October 2026) — 1 staked DIEM = $1 of Venice API credit per day, refreshing daily, no rollover; DIEM is a transferable ERC-20 on Base.
